Text: Luke 6:32-36
Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan
Exhortation:
In today’s text we see some of the characteristics of the good works that truly reflect the glory or nature of the Most High. For example we are made to understand that loving and doing good to only those who are good to you is discriminatory and attracts no heavenly reward.
Also we see that helping only those who can pay back is transactional, it makes a relationship look like a give-and take. We learn that kindness should be offered even when there is nothing to be gained. The word of God says, “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.” Proverbs 19:17
We are expected to genuinely seek for the welfare of those who are truly in need, looking beyond selfish interests and personal gains.
Our Lord Jesus Christ concluded by saying “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” Luke 6: 35-36
Action Nugget: Ask the Lord to fill your heart with much love and a heart full of compassion to help the vulnerable, the weak, the sick and all those who are truly in need of help.
