Exhortation:

A plague is like an epidemic that spreads to a community or nation within a short time. It is sometimes called a pestilence- a deadly and overwhelming disease that affects an entire community or nation.

According to the word of God, plagues occur as judgments from the Most High. For example when the Israelite men began to indulge in sexual immorality with the Moabite women, God was angered and a plague broke out immediately claiming the lives of 24,000 men- Numbers 25:1-9.

Also when David, the king conducted an unauthorized census of the Israelites, judgement fell on the nation and a plague broke out that consumed 70,000 Israelites- 2 Samuel 24:1-16. To the medically inclined, the conclusion must have been that the plague was caused by germs but the word of God said, it was an angel of God that was sent to execute judgement on the people.

However, at a point God decided to show mercy and when the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the Lord relented concerning the disaster and said to the angel who was afflicting the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand.” 2 Samuel 24:16

It is not the will of God for plagues to consume his own people, except if they step out of His protective covering through disobedience and sin.  But those who remain faithful and continually dwell in the secret place of the Most High will remain protected.

Have you surrendered yourself to the management and lordship of Jesus Christ? If No, what are you waiting for?  If yes, surely God will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked. Psalm 91:1-8.

Action Nugget: Make Jesus Christ your refuge and you will be shielded from the noisome pestilence.
