Under The Cover Of The Most High

Date: Thursday, 19th June, 2025

Text:  Isaiah 54:15

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

We serve the God who never sleeps nor slumbers. He is always watching over us day and night. The Son is ever interceding at the right hand of the Father 24/7. The Most High is working full time to ensure that all is well with your soul.

The devil on the other hand is never relenting. His own full time job is to steal, kill and destroy. He is all out to accuse believers before the Father day and night. His agents will always gather to thwart the purposes of God’s people. But the word of God says, “Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.” Isaiah 54:15

There is a Yoruba proverb that says, “Even a mad dog recognizes his owner”. The devil knows his boundaries. Those who remain under the cover of the Most High; those who continually hide themselves in the secret place of the Most High; the set of people who live in holiness and have an unbroken relationship with the father will remain untouchable by the enemy.

Friend where do you belong? There is no room for indifference. Relationship with the Lord must be personal and intentional. Deliberately set yourself apart for a consistent relationship with the lord. Don’t be prayerful only when you are in trouble or in serious need.  Let your altar carry fire day and night. Spend quality time in his presence worshiping and learning at his feet daily whether the weather is bright or dull.

In Christ you have no cause to fear because you are more than a conqueror. If you are still living and enjoying sinful pleasures, you need to urgently repent and come under the management of the Lord who love and sacrificed himself for your redemption.

Prayer For Fathers

Date: Sunday, 15th June, 2025

Text:  Hebrews 12:7-11.

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The father is the rallying point, a unifying force and a focus of support the family. He provides clear vision for the family to run with and creates a clear direction for them to follow. According to the word of God, the father has several roles.

His most important roles is to love every member of the family- Psalm 103:13. Out of love, he is to instruct the children, discipline and correct them in the ways of God as occasion demands- Hebrews 12:7-11. He should not provoke his children by failing to carry out his responsibilities.

He should train them in the way of God such that when they are old they will not depart from it= Proverbs 22:6. The word training involves leadership by example. Children are more influenced by what we do than what we say. So fathers should be the best examples for their children to follow.

The father is the priest of the family whose priestly responsibility is to regularly intercede for the members of the family and teach them the word of God. As a priest he is to regularly pronounce blessings upon his household.

The father is the provider or breadwinner of his family- 1 Timothy 5:8. A good father leaves inheritance for his household and even his grandchildren- Proverbs 13:22.

May all fathers reading this devotional succeed in their roles in Jesus Name.

Happy Fathers’ Day. Let us pray!

Prayer Nuggets

  1. Thank you for making me a father.
  2. Father, please, show me mercy in any area I have failed as a father in Jesus name.
  3. Father, help me to succeed in all my roles as a father in Jesus name.
  4. Pray for the father-figure in your life.

The Source Of Joy

Date: Saturday, 14th June, 2025

Text:  Galatians 5:22

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

A man can have his house full of gold and silver and still lack joy. This is why you see some “successful” people hanging out in beer palours, night clubs,  permanently on alcohol. They become addicted to strong drink. What are they looking for? It’s spelt JOY. But they end up getting chemical induced-happiness which is very short-lived and then, they are back to their sorrows.

Joy comes form the Lord. It is a fruit of the Holy Spirit- Galatians 5:22. This implies you need to surrender your heart to the Lord first.

Secondly joy comes from doing the will of God eg winning the souls of sinners to Christ. There is joy in Heaven over a sinner that repents-Luke 15:7. When you make heaven rejoice, the same joy will spread to you.

Joy obeys the law of harvest. In other words when you sow joy into the life of others you will reap greater joy. The friend of a very wealthy Nigerian billionaire asked him to buy wheelchairs for about 200 children who were disabled. He not only purchased them but also personally delivered them, witnessing the joy on the children’s faces as they used them.

This experience deeply impacted him, particularly when one child held onto his leg and expressed a desire to remember his face so they could thank him again in Heaven. The kind of joy he experienced was so deep that he was almost moved to tears. It is nothing compared to the fake happiness you get from drinking alcohol.

In a telephone interview on a radio station he stated all his life he has been searching for true happiness. He said that he has discovered that true happiness doesn’t come from accumulation of wealth but from impacting the lives of others. In his own words, after the wheel chair donation experience, he said, “I felt real joy inside me.”

Joy brings strength- Nehemiah 8:10; the strength to continue bouncing; the strength to keep going. Those who lack this strength find themselves abandoning the good work they have been doing for God.

Prophetic Nugget : May the joy of the Lord be your strength in Jesus Name.

Are You A Problem Solver ? (2)

Date: Friday, 13th June, 2025

Text:  1 Samuel 17: 1-50

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

One of the things that separates a problem critic from a problem solver is their attitudes. When a problem critic encounters a problem he complains and looks for someone to blame for the problem.

A problem solver thinks differently. His attitude is different. He doesn’t complain, but see problems as means of getting promoted. He always sees the good side of every problem. He doesn’t waste his time complaining about the problems but give thanks to God for the problem and ask God for the wisdom to turn the stumbling blocks to stepping stones unto greater heights. He see setbacks as set up for a victorious comeback.

When king Saul encountered the problem called Goliath, he neither remembered the anointing of God upon his life nor the testimonies of divine victories of the past. Instead, he allowed himself to be carried away by fear and dread. He couldn’t do anything to help the situation because he was moved by the enemies’ physical credentials.

David had a different attitude. He saw Goliath as a settled case. He compared the enemy to the animals he had conquered in the past- the lion and the bear. He told king Saul saying, “Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, because he has defied the armies of the living God. The Lord who rescued me from the paw of the lion and the paw of the bear will rescue me from the hand of this Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:36-37

That was a problem solver in action. He was so sure he was going to solve the Goliath problem, that he said, “This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17: 46-47

Did David complain about the problem? No! Did he look for who to blame? No! Did he solve the problem? Yes! If you must be a problem solver, stop complaining, stop playing the blame game; shun fear, don’t run away from the problem. Face it with faith and the strength of the Most High and just like David overcame, you will overcome in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: I receive a heart full of faith; I banish fear from my heart in Jesus name.

Are You A Problem Solver?

Date: Thursday, 12th June, 2025

Text:  Acts 10:38.

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

There are two categories of people in every society on Earth. The problems and the problem solvers. We are all familiar with problems. However, the society does not reward problems but the problem solvers. The problems are many but the problem solvers are very few.

Correct leadership is dependent on its ability to manage crises and solve problems. A leader who lacks the capacity to solve problems will be nothing but a figure head. No wonder they say, “Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.”

Wealth creation is about problem solving. Take a look at the wealthiest men on earth. They are all problem solvers. They deliberately look for problems in the society and get them solved on a regular basis and they get rewarded financially.

As a child of God, you need to build your capacity to solve problems. The more problems you solve the more you get rewarded. Problem solvers don’t lack financial resources. They cannot lack because they add value to the members of the society.

Your ability to solve problems depend on several factors. Jesus Christ was the greatest problem solver ever known. Why? Because he solved the greatest problem ever known. What is the greatest problem, then? Is it sickness? No! Is it poverty? Is it curses? No! Is it natural disasters? Is it death? No! all of these are just the aftermath or symptoms of the real problem. The real problem is spelt, SIN.

Another name for sin is disobedience. Sin brought sickness, poverty, curses, disasters, death etc. the Lord Jesus came to deal with monster called sin once and for all- Matthew 1:21;

Moses brought the law but Jesus brought grace. Law without grace led to hypocrisy. However, grace brought the ability to resist sin and overcome temptation-Titus 2:11.

The anointing of the Holy Spirit enabled Christ to go about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him- Acts 10:38.

Prayer Nugget: I refuse to be a problem but a problem solver in Jesus Name.

Discipleship Is Non-Negotiable (2)

Date: Tuesday, 10th June, 2025

Text:  Romans 12:1-2

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Miracles can attract men to God but it requires discipleship for them to retain such miracles. The devil can still steal a man’s miracle and turn his testimony to prayer point if he does not learn how to retain it.

If an evangelist comes to town and preaches the gospel so powerfully that many give their lives to Christ and receives their miracles, everyone is happy and there is joy everywhere. However, if he leaves the town and there is no pastor to follow up the converts and disciple them, in no time, they will backslide and be like a dog that has returned to its vomit.

Discipleship training is the deliberate teaching of the word of God and the practical demonstration of the same.  There is a proverb often shared by my Yoruba elders, they say, “The children you failed to build (through home training) will sell off the houses you spent money building.”

When you concentrate your efforts building church auditoriums instead of investing time and efforts in teaching the converts the way of God, you risk losing the same building. There are so many beautiful but empty church auditoriums all over the world, yet you see football stadiums filled to capacity.

Many parts of Europe used to be Christian dominated in the early days of the church with very beautiful edifices but over the centuries they have been outrun by other religious movements who spent quality time on the discipleship of their converts.

Solomon’s once magnificent building that gulped billions of dollars in modern language was eventually burnt down and deserted because the children of Israel backslid into idolatry despite several warnings from God’s prophets (the disciplers of those days) -2 Kings 25:1-21.

The church is not the building but the redeemed souls; therefore, more efforts should be concentrated on teaching the souls that make up the church  so that they know who they are in Christ and not conform to the pattern of this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of their minds so that they will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will- Romans 12:1-2.

Key Nugget: there is no substitute for discipleship.

Discipleship Is Non-Negotiable

Date: Monday, 9th June, 2025

Text:  Matthew 28:18-19

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Discipleship involves training. It is a process- a deliberate process which involves quality time. Jesus had twelve disciples and he trained them for three and a half years (almost the standard time required to obtain a bachelors degree in modern times) before commissioning them into apostleship.  A disciple is a student under a master. Jesus was the master who taught his disciples both theoretically and practically.

Jesus gave a general call to everybody in Matthew 11:28-29, he said, “ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me…” He is saying, “You are invited to be my students and you will find rest for your souls.”

His disciples learnt from both his verbal teachings and his lifestyle. He taught them by the things he did and said. Carefully observe that the doing comes before the saying- Acts 1:1B.The truth is that actions speak louder than words. So the disciples learnt more from what they observed in the life of their master than what he taught verbally.

Every true child of God is called to go into the world and make disciples of all nations. We are not just called to gather members into our church auditoriums but to disciple them.

In today’s text, Jesus came to his disciples and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

Will you obey his call?

Prayer Nugget: Father, I will obey your call to make disciple of all nations; please, strengthen me in Jesus name.

The Old Time Religion (5)

Text:  James 1:26-27

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Today’s text reads, “If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s religion is useless. Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.” James 1:26-27

Three other factors are crucial in our walk with God if he must restore the original glory of the church. From the above text, the first factor is the ability to bridle the tongue- James 1:26a. The one who is able to control his tongue is a perfect man- James 3:2.

Every member of today’s church must get rid of every sin especially those associated with the tongue- lies, exaggeration, slander, backbiting, flattery, boasting, gossiping, idle talk, harsh and unkind comments, revealing confidential information without permission etc. Like prophet Isaiah we need to ask God to purge our mouths with the fire of the Holy Spirit- Isaiah 6:1-6.

The second factor every member of today’s church must take very seriously is the welfare of the orphans and the widows. God takes so much special interests in these vulnerable groups of people that he is called the Father of the fatherless and the Defender of the widow- Psalm 68:5. Any maltreatment of these groups is taken personal by God, their defender- Exodus 22:22-27.

The third requirement the Father expect from every member of today’s church is to keep himself  from the pollution of the world- James 1:27b. The whole world is contaminated with all forms of perversions and we are called to separate ourselves from every act of contamination. We are called to come out from the pollution of the world and be separate, and to touch no unclean thing.

Prayer Nugget: Ask for the grace to do the will of God in the area of tongue control, welfare of the vulnerable and abstinence from the pollution of the world.

The Old Time Religion (4)

Text:  2 Chronicles 7:13-14

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

We are called to the place of prayer to seek the mercies of the God of Heaven so that the raw glory experienced in the early church can return. When there is a people to pray, there is a God to answer.

In 2 Chronicles 7:13-14, God said, “If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people;

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

The glory will return when we cry to the Lord in repentance and genuinely forsake all forms of spiritual coldness, lukewarmness and lethargy.

In prayer we shut ourselves out from the noisy dissenting voices in the busy world and find ourselves in the quiet stillness of God’s presence. There we discern the mind of God and receive specific instructions we need to prevail daily.

In the place of prayer we have the opportunity to intercede for others especially those who are lost in sin.

Temptations lose their power in the place of fervent prayer- Matthew 26:41. In prayer we commune with God and tap fresh grace for the fresh challenges each day presents. In the place of prayer, we receive strength to submit to the Lord and to resist the devil.

Action Nugget: Let us humble ourselves and return to a life of consistent, heart-felt praying that avails much.

The Old Time Religion (3)

Date: Thursday, 5th June, 2025

Text:  Acts 6:1-7

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

If we must return back to the original glory God reserved for the church, we must learn to identify arrows of distractions shot against her.

As the number of the disciples increased in the early church, the devil wanted to distract the leadership of the church by diverting their focus to major on the minor.

In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. The devil wanted to use this avenue to steal the unity among the believers.

However, church leadership was sensitive enough to nip the situation in the bud. They carefully appointed seven deacons, men who were known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom, to handle the matter while they gave their attention to the two principal areas of Prayer and the Ministry Of The Word- Acts 6:1-7.

They remained focused.they majored on the major no wonder their results were great. Today, we are called to repentance from every form of distraction.

We are called to return to the most important things that matter to God.                                                                                                                                                                                       We are called to focus on the undiluted word of God which is required for discipleship. We are called to disciple all nations and not just get them converted. This is the reason why we have too many baby Christians in our churches. They have stayed so long in the church but they have refused to grow because discipleship is lacking.

We are not called to entertain people and get them excited but to ministers the hard truth which is meant to convict sinners and get them converted.

We are not mere motivational speakers who speak with the eloquence or enticing words of man’s wisdom but we are called to demonstrate the raw power of God-1 Corinthians 2:4.  We are called by the Lord Jesus to preach the word with boldness, humility, love and without compromise. We are to preach it when it’s convenient or not- 2 Timothy 4:2.

Key Nugget: We are called to return to the most important things that matter to God.                                                                                                                                                                                        Bible in One Year: Job 39-42
