Text: Nehemiah 2:1-8

Exhortation:

There are different types of prayers. When you are having your quiet time or personal devotion, it is often well structured and you really take your time. You first enter his heavenly gates with thanks giving and into his courts with praises. Then you probably reconcile with your Maker by asking for mercy and forgiveness, in case you have transgressed. After this you then proceed to ask for your personal needs and to intercede for others.

However, it is not everytime you have the luxury of time to offer such structured and time-demanding prayers. Many times, life presents emergency situations where you need urgent, almost, instantaneous divine interventions. At such times, you need to shoot arrow prayers and God honours them.

Arrow prayers are, short, quick prayers offered to connect to God.

Nehemiah happened to be a Cupbearer in the palace of Emperor Artaxerxes; he had never appeared before his master with a sad countenance before. And he got a rare privilege of getting a blank cheque from the king who requested him to ask for whatever he wanted.

The Wine Steward, Nehemiah was nervous but before he gave a response to the Emperor, he quickly shot an arrow prayer to God, asking for divine favour. Did God answer? Yes he did, because he obtained favour from the Emperor. His request was abundantly granted- Nehemiah 2:1-8.

Action Nugget: Demonstrate your faith by habitually and periodically shooting arrow prayers to God.
