Align Yourself with God’s Purpose

Text: Genesis 11:1–9

Exhortation:

The Tower of Babel idea sounded humanly good. It was a project aimed at building a city and a tower whose top would reach heaven, with the intention of making a name for the builders so that they would not be scattered across the face of the earth. The vision was so captivating that everybody was involved. Much energy was invested in the work. Their unity and teamwork were top-notch—highly impressive.

When God came down to see the city and the tower, He acknowledged that their unity was strong enough to complete the project if nothing hindered them. Yet, despite how impressive their imagination appeared, God Himself—not the devil—introduced confusion into their midst, and the project was abandoned.

God opposed their work because their plans did not align with His agenda for mankind. His purpose was not for humanity to cluster together in one place to make a name for themselves, but rather to “Be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the whole earth, and subdue it” (Genesis 1:27–28).

This year, always pause to think before implementing any idea that comes to your mind. Check with the Word of God to be sure your plans do not contradict divine purpose. Do not rush into every joint venture; ensure you are not unknowingly involved in any conspiracy against God’s plan.

For instance, those championing homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and other acts of perversion should repent, because such actions directly oppose God’s agenda for marriage. When you continually attack God’s plan, you position yourself as His adversary.

Action Nugget: Align yourself with God’s divine agenda this year, and success shall be yours in Jesus’ name.
