Exhortation:

Yesterday, we established that nature allows no vacuum or empty space. Something must fill every empty space, whether good or evil. That is why you cannot afford to be empty. It is a dangerous thing to be empty because there are homeless forces of darkness desperately looking for accommodation. They are in search of human houses (souls) to occupy.

The word of God says, “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it.Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.” Matthew 12:43-45

Our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit; but you know Satan has always desired to ‘overthrow’ God and occupy his dwelling place- Isaiah 14:13. If you are already carrying God’s presence, you have to be careful to continue to retain the divine presence because the devil will do everything in his capacity to lure you into sin so that you can lose the presence of God.

He knows that once you lose God’s presence, the space left will be immediately filled by him. This is the fate of backsliders except they repent. The word of God warns, saying, “Therefore, let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall.” 1 Corinthians 10:12

Unrepentant backsliders have automatically given the devil unrestricted access to occupy their hearts and if they continue in their backslidden state, their situation could become worse to the state of apostasy. When anybody gets to this unfortunate point he becomes irredeemable.

Concerning such people the word of God says, “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.” Hebrews 6:4-6

Key Nugget: It is dangerous to be empty.
