Handling Rejection (3)

 Text: Psalm 118:22-23

Exhortation:

Joseph’s father loved him so much because he was a son born in his old age and also because he found special favour with God. However, his own brothers envied him and tried to eliminate him. The word of God says he was cast into a pit and then sold into slavery-Genesis 37:18-36.

Rejection is more painful if it comes from your loved ones. He pleaded for mercy from his brothers but they would not listen to him. You can imagine what would be going on in Joseph’s mind when all these were happening to him. He would have remembered his late mother and his old father.

He probably would have cried to God for a rescue but the situation went from bad to worse. When we sometimes face things like this we would have thought God has abandoned us. However the word of God says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Joseph held fast to his relationship with God and he continued to enjoy divine favour even in the midst of his trials.  Eventually, the stone which the builders refused became the head stone of the corner- Psalm 118:22-23.

Those who rejected him later came to bow to him and beg him for food.

Have you faced any form of rejection? Please, hold fast unto your love with the Lord and all things will eventually work for your good in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: Father, let all things work together for my good because I love you in Jesus name.

Bible in One Year: Deuteronomy 12-19
