Text: 1 Samuel 22:1-2

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

At a point, David’s life was under death threat. His victory over Goliath and his various military conquests drew a very toxic load of envy into his life. His master, Saul, the king of Israel felt intimidated by his various exploits. With his spear, the king attempted to pin him to the wall about three times but David escaped – 1 Samuel 18:11; 19:10.

He used his daughter as a snare to capture and destroy David but the plan failed- 1 Samuel 18:20-27. He therefore, mustered thousands of soldiers to arrest him and bring him to the king either dead or alive. After some time he decided to personally get involved in chasing him up and down. David thus began to run helter skelter and from pillar to post.

David became homeless and started wandering. At appoint he found himself living in caves. At the cave of Adullam,  his brothers and all his father’s house came to join him and everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him-1 Samuel 22:1-2.

Four hundred men who were frustrated with their various issues of life gathered around David, who himself was frustrated.  Each of them had their own unique ugly stories just like we all have our different stories.

Everyone has his own story to tell about the challenges of life. The word of God says, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.”- Psalm 34:19.

When you go through a hard time, never think you are alone. There are many people going through the same or even worse situations.  Therefore, be encouraged and don’t give up. You have a glorious future in Christ.

For those in Christ, the Lord promised, “In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33b

Prayer Nugget: Father, please, step into my situation and deliver me out of every affliction in Jesus name.
