The Fruit of the Spirit

Date: Friday, 8th August, 2025

Text:  Galatians 5:22-23

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Just like a tree is identified by the fruit it produces, a person is identified by the kind of behaviour he puts up.

The Fruit of the Spirit, therefore, refers to the nine characteristics reflected in the life of a believer who lives in accordance with the Holy Spirit. The word of God in Galatians 5:22-23 says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

To start with ‘Love’ is the first of the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22). It is the foundation upon which all other fruits are built because it influences joy, peace, patience and others. Without love, spiritual actions are meaningless before God (1 Corinthians 13:1–3). Love reflects God’s nature. “God is love.”  1 John 4:8.

Love is a selfless commitment to the well-being of others. In Greek, the word used is “agape – the highest form of love- selfless love.

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”1 Corinthians 13:4-8

The fruit of love in a believer’s life is a sign that the Holy Spirit is at work. It’s not enough to love those who love us back, but we are expected to also love our enemies, and forgive those who hurt us, and serve others with humility just as Christ did.

Reflective Nugget: We show we are His children when we love like Him.

Remain Encouraged

Date: Thursday, 7th August, 2025

Text:  Luke 22:39-45.

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The devil is out to prove that God is a liar. He shoots the arrow of discouragement, sorrow, failure, disappointments etc especially against God’s bonafide children. What is his main purpose? Very simple. He wants you discouraged. Many have fallen into this trap and have backslidden.

Do you remember the story of Elijah? A highly anointed man who called fire from Heaven at will. He singled handedly arrested 450 false prophets of Baal and got them executed. The same man began to shiver because of the threat of a woman- Jezebel. He was so fearful to the extent that he asked God to take his life- 1 Kings 18-19.

Obviously, the devil was at work. Whenever, you feel discouraged, note that it is not from God; the devil is at work.

Is there anybody immune to this? Of course, no. the devil is no respecter of your Christian title. What do you do when you are under such attack from the devil? Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us the best example.

When he was about to go to the Cross of Calvary, his soul was filled with sorrow even to death. Three times he prayed that the Father should reconsider and cancel his original plan of the salvation of mankind.

He said, “O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.” Matthew 26:39. In the Garden of Gethsemane, he prayed very well and gained more strength to carry on- Luke 22:39-45.

When you are discouraged, it is time to pray; it is time worship and tap into divine strength one more time. Victory shall be yours in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: Father, please, strengthen me; I come against every spirit of discouragement and despondency in Jesus name.

The Holy Spirit as Oil

Date: Tuesday, 5th August, 2025

Text:  Isaiah 10:27

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

One of the symbols of the Holy Spirit is the oil.

Firstly, oil was used to anoint kings, priests, and prophets for example David was anointed by Samuel to become king- 1 Samuel 16:13. This act symbolized consecration, empowerment, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. Today, the Holy Spirit anoints believers for service, making them spiritually equipped and set apart for God’s purposes.

Secondly, just as oil was useful for healing wounds and refreshing the body (Isaiah 1:6, Luke 10:34), the Holy Spirit heals broken hearts, soothes weary souls, and brings spiritual restoration.

Thirdly, in biblical times, oil lamps were used to give light (e.g., Matthew 25:1-13 – the parable of the ten virgins). The Holy Spirit illuminates, gives guidance, and helps believers walk in the light of truth. The scriptures say, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105. It is the Holy Spirit that keeps the lamp of God’s word burning in our hearts.

Spiritual dryness sets in when the oil level is low or absent. A life devoid of the oil will be full of struggles.

Fourthly, anointing gives us deliverance from evil burdens and Satanic yokes- Isaiah 10:27 says, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.”

Lastly, just as oil is used in worship rituals, the Holy Spirit inspires worship and draws us closer to the Father.

Prayer Nugget: Father, please anointing me afresh with your Spirit for service in Jesus name.

The Holy Spirit as Dove (2)

Date: Sunday, 3rd August, 2025

Text:  Matthew 10:16

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The dove is not the Holy Spirit in the actual form, but a symbol used to help us understand the nature of the invisible, divine presence of God’s Spirit.

At Jesus’ baptism, the Holy Spirit descended upon Him “like a dove,” marking the beginning of His public ministry. This imagery links the Holy Spirit with peace, purity, and divine approval.

In the story of Noah -Genesis 8:11, a dove returns with an olive branch, signaling the end of God’s judgment and the restoration of peace. Doves are seen as gentle and pure creatures, representing the holy and sinless nature of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit descended “like a dove”– not violent or forceful, but peaceful and deliberate, suggesting the gentle work of the Spirit in the believer’s life.

The scripture “Be wise as serpents and harmless as doves” comes from Matthew 10:16, where Jesus gives instructions to His disciples as He sends them out to proclaim the Kingdom of God, saying, Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.Matthew 10:16

Wisdom without harmlessness can lead to fraud and manipulation. Harmlessness without wisdom can lead to vulnerability or foolishness.

Jesus is calling for a mature combination: to be morally pure and ethically upright, but also shrewd and strategic in a dangerous world. He is telling us to be prudent, alert, and careful—not naïve—especially when facing opposition.  Tact is the ability to make a point without necessarily creating enemies. He wants us to balance truthfulness with tact.

Prophetic Nugget: Receive the grace to balance truthfulness with tact in Jesus name.

The Holy Spirit as Dove

Date: Saturday, 2nd August, 2025

Text:  Matthew 3:16-17

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

According to today’s text, when the Lord Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River, he went up straightway out of the water: and, the heavens were opened unto him, and John the Baptist saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him- Matthew 3:16

Why did the Holy Spirit appear as a dove and not as an owl, a hawk or a vulture?

Firstly, doves were considered clean animals in the Old Testament and were acceptable as sacrifices -Leviticus 5:7, 12:8, especially for those who couldn’t afford a lamb. This symbolizes humility, purity and blamelessness.

Secondly doves are non-aggressive, calm and peaceful birds. They are harmless and do not prey on others and are often seen as symbols of vulnerability. This reflects the idea of a heart that does no harm, echoing Jesus’ instruction to be “innocent as doves” -Matthew 10:16.

Doves by nature are not deceitful animals. They are simple creatures devoid of guile. The dove’s innocence signifies purity, harmlessness, gentleness, and moral integrity.

Prayer Nugget: Father, I ask for a pure and innocent like a dove in Jesus name

He Will Restore

Date: Friday, 1st August, 2025

Text:  Joel 2: 24-28

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Welcome to the eight month of the year. In this new month may you experience the goodness of God in a new dimension in Jesus name. Every gain you have made will be consolidated in Jesus name; every progress you have made will not be reversed in Jesus name. Have you suffered any loss this year? May the Lord turn your ashes to beauty in Jesus name.  The Lord has promised to restore to you all the years the locusts, canker worm, caterpillar and palmerworms of this world have eaten- Joel 2: 24-28

This month may your floors be full of wheat, and your vats overflow with wine and oil; may you eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you and may you never be ashamed in Jesus name.

Two cannot walk together except they agree- Amos 3:3. As you agree to partner with the Lord in obedience, may his Holy Spirit lead you to your greener pastures and to your land of promise in Jesus name. May you indeed possess all your possessions in the name of Jesus.

Happy New month!

Action Nugget: Give thanks to God for a brand new month and ask for what you desire from him this month.
