Toughening Experiences

Date: Saturday, 5th April, 2025

Text: James 1:2-4

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

There are situations we go through that look as though we are going to crash. At times the going gets tough and may seem unbearable. A lot of believers in Christ have suffered pain, losses, delay, hardships, betrayals, disappointments, failures and even sorrow. We may be wondering why God allows us to go through these situations.

We know that his thoughts towards us are for good and not evil. Therefore, he must have a good reason for allowing us to pass through tough times.

One unique thing about soldiers’ training is that they are made to go through very rough and often dangerous terrains in order to toughen them and to prepare them for real life battle and wars. And we are also soldiers of Christ. We are commanded therefore to “Endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.”2 Timothy 2:3

Today’s text says, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4

From the above scripture we see perseverance, maturity and completeness as the benefits of going through tough times.

The good news is that the God we serve is the father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from him.

No matter what we go through we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose-Romans 8:28.

Prayer Nugget: Father, I receive the grace to persevere in trials and to be toughened by them in Jesus name.

Don’t Lose Your Guard (3)

Date: Friday, 4th April, 2025

Text: 1 Peter 5:8-9

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Most of us tend to relax and lose our guards during times of merriments, celebrations and festivities. The enemy knows this and so he carefully and strategically waits for this season before he strikes. We have several instances of such.

The only two birthday celebrations mentioned in the Bible are Pharaoh’s in Genesis 40:20-22 and king Herod’s in Matthew 14:6-12 and Mark 6:21-29, both of which were bloody being associated with executions.

King Ahasuerus lost his marriage during a period of merriment. When he was drunk and in high spirits, he made a hasty decision that led to the banishment of his beautiful Queen Vashti.-Esther 1:1-22.

Absalom, one of the sons of king David had a grudge with his elder brother, Amnon, because the he raped his beautiful sister, Tamar.  He kept quiet and waited for two years when it seemed Amnon had forgotten about it.

King David’s first born and heir apparent, Amnon, was struck dead while he was in high spirits being drunk from wine at a ceremony organized by his stepbrother, Absalom. The enemies attacked him when they were sure he was very vulnerable, careless and had let down his guards- 2 Samuel 13:23-38

Be careful, watchful and prayerful during merriments, seasons of celebrations and festivities. Many lives have been lost at such times. The word of God says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

Prayer Nugget: Father, I receive the grace to be sober and vigilant always in Jesus name.

Don’t Lose Your Guard (2)

Date: Thursday, 3rd April, 2025

Text: Matthew 26:37-45

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

According to the text of today, when the Lord was about to be arrested and crucified, his heart was very heavy with sorrow. He knew he needed to spend quality time in prayer in order to renew his strength before going to the cross; so he asked some prayer champions to join him to pray for about an hour.

Luckily enough, Peter, James and John were among these specially selected intercessors. However, the three of them fell asleep. This gave the devil an opportune time to work in the life of one of them. Before, you knew it, Peter found himself shedding blood through the violent attack of Malchus, whose ear he cut off.  The victim was one of the arresters of Christ- John18:10-11.

When you are sleeping when you are supposed to be praying, you are unknowingly opening your door to the enemy’s attack. You will find yourself doing things you never imagined you could do.

When kings went to war, David stayed behind; and before you knew it, he found himself on the bed of adultery with another man’s wife. When others are going for evangelism or minding the kingdom business, what are you pre-occupied with?

When you are supposed to be loading yourself with the word of God and you are pre-occupied with other things, you are opening yourself up to the enemy’s attacks.

Be at the right place at the right time; and do the right things at the right time. You will not be vulnerable in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: I receive the strength and enablement to always do the right thing at the right time and to be at the right place at the right time in Jesus name.

Don’t Lose Your Guard

Date: Wednesday, 2nd April, 2025

Text: Luke 4:1-13

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

When the Lord was tempted of the devil, he won three times; however, the word of God says, And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.” Luke 4:13. The devil temporarily left Him until a more opportune time.

The devil hopes for a time the Lord will let down his guard; a time when he would be careless and vulnerable to attacks.  But he never got one.

I pray for you that the devil will never catch you off guard in Jesus name.

Most times when Satan cannot get an opportune time, he creates one by shooting arrows of discouragement against the souls of the saints. Discouragement often sets in when there is delay in answered prayers or when expectations are not met. Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life- Proverbs 13:12.

Discouragement may also set in through the arrow of sorrow shot by the enemy. This can happen when there is an unfortunate loss of a loved one; financial loss; loss of valuable property, job etc. This calls for patience and endurance on the part of the saints.

Whenever you are faced with a discouraging situation, always remember that you are not alone. The Lord has promised never to leave nor forsake you- Hebrews 13:5. Your labour of love for God can never be in vain. Lift up your head and put your hope firmly on the Lord; be steadfast and unmoveable.

Don’t give the devil a foothold by losing your guard. Remain faithful till the very end. You will not be a victim in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: Father, I ask for grace to remain steadfast in your love always; I will not lose my guard in Jesus name.

Thank God for the ‘Little’ Things

Date: Tuesday, 1st April, 2025

Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Happy New month! Welcome to the month of April and the second quarter of the year. I enjoin you to always give thanks to God for everything both great and small.

Those things you consider to be little are actually big in the lives of so many other people. For example, you find it so easy to fall asleep whenever you hit the bed and so you take it for granted. But for millions of people all over the world they find that same thing difficult; some of them have to constantly swallow sleeping pills before they can get some sleep. Be thankful!

At your age your body parts are still intact. That can only be by the grace of God. Earlier this year, I heard the testimony of an old woman who recently clocked a hundred years old. Her set of teeth were still complete; she could read the Bible without glasses; she could still move around without any form of aid. She spoke very clearly without her voice fading or shaking.

When last did you thank God for your sanity? Did you know that there are so many well educated, well connected people that are patients of psychiatric hospitals? Be thankful for your mental health!

Someone was crying that he has no shoes and then as he was going along the road he met someone that has no legs but was very happy and grateful to God.  He immediately realized his error and began thanking God for his legs and he forgot about his lack of shoes.

Be thankful to God for those things you consider to be little. What you take for granted and call ‘little’ is a big deal in the lives of millions of other people on the planet Earth. Therefore, think deeply and be thankful.
