Text: Matthew 6:31-34

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

There was the story of a corporate executive manager who was always met by a preacher for an appointment to hear the word of God, but he always declined because he was “very busy” and had no time. Then one day he got a call from his doctor that he has been diagnosed of Cancer and that he had only a few months to live.

Suddenly, the one who had always complained of ‘no time’ had plenty of time to listen to the Word of God. May you not get to that point where God has to use a terminal disease or calamity to get your attention in Jesus name.

What exactly are people busy doing that so chokes up their time? Jesus described those distractions as life’s worries, riches and pleasures- Luke 8:14. They are worldly pursuits borne out of anxieties of what to eat, or drink, what to wear and where to live- basically the cares of this life..

In Matthew 6:31-34, Jesus described these as the things the pagans are always concerned about- things that our Father in heaven knows that we need. Instead of focusing on vanities, Christ taught that we are supposed to be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of us, and he will provide you with all these other things.

In Luke 12:15, the Lord went on to say , “Watch out and guard yourselves from every kind of greed; because your true life is not made up of the things you own, no matter how rich you may be.”

But godliness with contentment is great gain; for we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that.- 1 Timothy 6:8-10.

Prophetic Nugget: Receive grace to pursue the Kingdom essentials in Jesus name.

Focus on the Essentials

Text: Luke 10:38-42

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

We all want many things but need only a few. The things you want can be done without but the things you need are essential to your survival.  In the midst of all the hustle and bustle of daily life only very few things are really needed for our spiritual and by extension physical survival.

According to today’s text, as Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “You are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:38-42

So many today are so busy with the non-essentials that they miss the essential. When you call for Bible Study during the week, you will hardly see a good number of attendees. The excuses they give is busyness. They have no time for both personal and corporate Bible study.

Everybody is busy but you will create time for what is important to you. This is why the Twelve Apostles gathered all the disciples together and told them, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables. Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility (of food sharing) over to them and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” Acts 6:2-4

Action Nugget: Don’t be distracted, focus on the essentials.

Text: Revelation 2-3

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

In his letters to the Seven Churches in Asia Minor, namely, Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamon, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and the Laodicean Churches (located in the modern day Turkey); Jesus made seven prophetic promises to all believers who overcome sin and its worldly passions.

Firstly, he said, “To him who overcomes (by active faith in Christ) I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God”- Rev. 2:7

Secondly, “He who overcomes (by active faith in Christ) shall not be hurt by the second death (Lake of Fire)” Rev. 2:11

Thirdly, “To him who overcomes (by active faith in Christ), I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.”  Rev 2:17a

Fourthly, “And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations— ‘He shall rule them with a rod of iron; They shall be dashed to pieces like the potter’s vessels’— as I also have received from My Father; and I will give him the morning star”- Rev 2:26-28.

Fifthly, “He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels”- Rev. 3:5

Sixthly, Jesus Christ said, “He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of My God and the name of the city of My God, the New Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name”- Rev 3:12.

Lastly, the Lord promised, “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne”- Rev 3:21

The small and temporary trouble we suffer will bring us a tremendous and eternal glory, much greater than the trouble. For we fix our attention, not on things that are seen, but on things that are unseen. What can be seen lasts only for a time, but what cannot be seen lasts forever. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

May you overcome in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: Father, help me to endure to the very end and be counted worthy to reign with you eternally in Jesus name.

Text: Galatians 5:16-17

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The Christian journey is warfare. That is why the Bible says, “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called…” 1 Timothy 6:12. Therefore every child of God must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier- 2 Timothy 2:3-4. But the comforting truth is that, in all things we are more than conquerors through Christ that loved us- Romans 8:37.

The Lord is a man of war: the Lord is his name- Exodus 15:3. He has promised to fight for you while you hold your peace- Exodus 14:14. All you need to do is to acknowledge your helplessness and lift your hands to the only one who can help your soul.

When you surrender your heart to the management of the Lord Jesus Christ, his Holy Spirit will enter your life and empower you to overcome.

This is why Apostle Paul wrote, “So I say, walk by the Spirit (be on the side of the Holy Spirit), and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.” Galatians 5:16-17

The word of God is Spirit and life. To walk in the Spirit is to live your life in obedience to the word of God; while to walk in the flesh is to live according to your feelings, desires and worldly passions.

The world is passing away, and the evil passions of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. The choice is basically yours, but you will account for any choice you make.

Prophetic Nugget: Receive grace to walk in the Spirit in Jesus name.

Text: Romans 7:18b-20

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Is it your desire to do the will of God but discover that you just can’t no matter how hard you try? The fact that you are willing to please the Lord is a first step in the right direction. But you need to go beyond just being willing.

Willingness must be combined with obedience for you to hit the mark- (Isaiah 1:19). The blessing is in the doing beyond just willingness.

The word of God says, “Do not deceive yourselves by just listening to his word; instead, put it into practice. If you listen to the word, but do not put it into practice you are like people who look in a mirror and see themselves as they are. They take a good look at themselves and then go away and at once forget what they look like.

But if you look closely into the perfect law that sets people free, and keep on paying attention to it and do not simply listen and then forget it, but put it into practice—you will be blessed by God in what you do”. James 1:22-25 (GNT)

There is a subtle war going on between the flesh and the spirit. The battle field is the human mind. The struggle continues throughout life but the winner of this invisible conflict depends on whose side you are on.

Apostle Paul summarized the warfare as follows:

“For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.” Romans 7:18b-20

It is a spiritual war which can only be won by the help of the Spirit. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth- John 4:24

Prayer Nugget: Father, please help me to back up my willingness with obedience in Jesus name.

Text: Revelation 12:7-9;11-12.

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

War did not originate from the Earth, but it started right from Heaven. The war has continued on Earth because the author of the heavenly war has been forcefully relocated to the Earth.

The Bible says, “Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, who fought back with his angels; but the dragon was defeated, and he and his angels were not allowed to stay in heaven any longer. The huge dragon was thrown out—that ancient serpent, named the Devil, or Satan, that deceived the whole world. He was thrown down to earth, and all his angels with him.”

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time”- Revelation 12:7-9;11-12.

Today, against their wishes, many find it very difficult to do the will of God and they can’t explain why. The truth is there are forces beyond the scope of human control. You have to engage spiritual weapons the enemy cannot handle.

Are you confronted with battles in the area of health, finances, marriage, parenting, career, academics etc? God dwells in unapproachable light. His word is light. The light is a weapon that automatically drives out darkness. Engage the power of His light today and record your victory over the contending forces of darkness- John 1:1-5; 1Timothy 6:16.

Prayer Nugget: Father, please, grant me victory over every force contending with my life and destiny in Jesus name.

Put No Confidence in Princes

Text: Psalm 146:3-6

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

There is a saying that your network is your net worth, meaning that the social connections you have and the relationships you build with others can have a direct impact on your financial success and overall wealth. While this is true on the surface, if God does not place your help in someone’s hands, no matter how close, you are to him, he may not remember to help you. This has led many into frustration.

The Psalmist said, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:1-2. Your help does not come from abroad but from above.

Man may even have a genuine intention of helping you but could fail for reasons beyond his control. But our God can never fail because everything on Earth, beneath the Earth and in the Heavens above and Hell below are under his control.

He rules in the affairs of Men. Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.” This implies that the Lord controls the mind of a king as easily as he directs the course of a stream. If anybody succeeds in helping you, give praise and glory to God because he alone put your favour in his eyes. Never give credit to your intelligence.

Do not put your trust in princes, nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; in that very day his plans perish.Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God, Who made heaven and earth,
The sea, and all that is in them; who keeps truth forever” Psalm 146:3-6

Action Nugget: Look up to the One who cannot fail and you will never be disappointed in Jesus name.

Keep His Will

Date: Wednesday, 21st February, 2024

Text: Hebrews 9:15-28.

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Another word for covenant is testament. Testament is the official or legal will of a man on how he wants his property shared or allocated after his demise. The word of God is his approved Will for Mankind.

Wills are put into effect after the death of the testator (or owner of the will). The Old Will was sealed with the blood of animals but the revised, better, superior or New Will of God is sealed with the precious and everlasting blood of Jesus- Hebrews 9:15-28.

The Old Will is the shadow of the New; while the New Will is the fulfillment of the Old Will of God.

In that New Will Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” John 14:2-3

In that same Will Christ said, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’- Matthew 7:21-23

May you not be found wanting in living according to the Will of God in Jesus name.

Prayer Nugget: As from today, I will be found blameless in keeping the Will of God in Jesus name.

The Covenant of Peace

Date: Tuesday, 20th February, 2024

Text: Numbers 25:1-18

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Peace is what the whole world desperately seeks all over. Its absence is what is responsible for wars and rumours of wars. When peace is missing, there comes suspicion, animosity, rancour, bitterness, hatred, fighting, murder, genocide etc. Between God and Man, peace was lost from the very beginning when Man fell.

According to today’s text, while Israel was staying in Shittim, the men began to indulge in sexual immorality with Moabite women, who invited them to the sacrifices to their gods. The people ate the sacrificial meal and bowed down before these gods. So Israel yoked themselves to an idol called the Baal of Peor. And the Lord’s anger burned against them.

God’s anger had immediately led to an epidemic breakout which consumed 24,000 Israelites. While this was going on God instructed Moses, their leader to command the Isrealite judges to destroy all those involved in this immorality so that peace can be restored. Many Israelites mourned and wept at this evil development but not all of them.

Worthy of note was a priest called Phinehas whose zeal for God put a stop to the plague. He loved what God loved and hated what God hated. God made a Covenant of Peace with him, he and his descendants are permanently established as priests, because he did not tolerate any rivals with God and brought about forgiveness for the people’s sin.

You too can actually enjoy God’s peace like a river throughout your lifetime and even pass that peace to your generations yet unborn. All you need to do is to love what God loves and hate what God hates. Live, eat, breathe and thrive in obedience to His will and word.

The word of God says, “But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.” Isaiah 57:20-21

Prayer Nugget: Father, please, help me to always love what you love and hate what you hate in Jesus name.

Agree to the Covenant

Date: Monday, 19th February, 2024

Text: Amos 3:3

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

For you to enjoy the blessings of God’s covenant you must walk closely with Him.

The song writer says,

“When we walk with the Lord, in the light of His Word, What a glory He sheds on our way;
while we do His good will, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey.

“In fellowship sweet, we will sit at His feet, or we’ll walk by His side in the way; what He says we will do; where He sends, we will go; we will never fear, only trust and obey.”

Some people want to enjoy the blessings of Abraham but are not ready walk with the God of Abraham. Prophet Amos asked in today’s text, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” Amos 3:3. Of course not! Two cannot walk together except they be agreed.  In the case of God’s covenant, to agree means to submit yourself to God and to resist the devil.

To agree is to submit your will to the will of God. It is to say, with your actions, ‘Not my will, but thy will be done’

To agree is to put the flesh under the control of the Holy Spirit. To put the flesh under is to crucify and be dead to it and its accompanying passion.

Prophetic Nugget: Receive grace to agree to the terms of the covenant and enjoy the blessings thereof in Jesus name.
