Text: Revelation 21:9-27

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Holiness means total obedience to the word and will of God. God’s will is clearly spelt out in his word. Without holiness no man shall see God. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God- Hebrews 12:14; Matthew 5:8.

God’s throne is situated on a mountain called Mount Zion. How do we know? Psalm 48:1-3 says, “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. God is known in her palaces for a refuge.”

Heaven is a beautiful place. You cannot compare its glory with any place on Earth. the foundation is made with all manner of precious stones. There is no need for electrical or solar light because God’s glory fills it with His radiant light.

In today’s text, we see that in Heaven, also known as the New Jerusalem, God will live among Men and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them as their God,and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be sorrow and anguish, or crying, or pain.

Nothing that defiles or profanes or is unwashed will ever enter it, nor anyone who practices abominations [detestable, morally repugnant things] and lying, but only those [will be admitted] whose names have been written in the Lamb’s Book of Life; those who have clean hands and a pure heart.

Will you be among the number?

Action Nugget: Repent from every sinful way and live your life according to the Word of God in Christ Jesus.

Text: Romans 14:17-18

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

“For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.” Romans 14:17-18

From the above text, we can clearly see the third spiritual blessing which money cannot buy, namely, Peace. It keeps you going on the narrow high way to eternity.

The Prince of Peace rules in the midst of storms. He is the Master over Situations and Circumstances. When Nebuchadnezzar threw the Three Hebrew boys into the fiery furnace, the Prince of Peace appeared there and the fire became powerless. The king said, “Look! I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.” Daniel 3:25. This is why Jesus Christ is also called the 4th Man in the Fire.

Are you suffering from an evil fire? May the Prince of Peace step into your situation and quench that evil fire in Jesus name.

The Prince of Peace is also the Lord of Host who is the Captain of the Heavenly Army. If you allow him in your heart, you have nothing to fear because Greater is He that is you than he (Satan) that is in the world (of sinful mankind). 1 John 4:4

Hand over your battles to him. Stop fighting alone! You cannot win the devil with your wisdom; he is a brilliant strategist. If you must win, make Christ your Ally. He will fight for you and you shall hold your peace. Exodus 14:14

Righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit are the three blessings you cannot have outside Christ, except you repent and accept him as your Saviour and Lord. Make a U-Turn away from the Broad Highway of Destruction and join the Narrow Way that leads to life Eternal today!

Prayer Nugget: Prince of Peace, please, fight my battles for me in Jesus name.

Text: Psalm 16:11

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Yesterday, we identified righteousness as one of the three blessings that the passers on the broad way cannot have irrespective of their status. We explained that the righteousness of Christ is a gift obtained by faith by a believer to produce good works. This righteousness is also a robe that must be kept clean, unwrinkled and without blemish.

The word of God says, “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.” Ephesians 5:25-27

The second priceless blessing is joy. Joy and happiness are not the same. Anyone can be happy because happiness is a reaction to something good that happens to a man. It is fleeting. However, joy is a product of God’s presence. Psalm 16:11 says, “Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence is fullness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.”

You can activate his joy by spending quality time in God’s presence, through consistent praise, prayer, worship and the study of His word and the joy that flows from His presence will rub off on you.

The more the presence of God you allow in your life, the more joyful you become. This is why an unbeliever cannot know true joy except he gives his life to Christ and carries God’s presence. Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit- Galatians 5:22

If you belong to Christ Jesus and have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires, the joy of the Lord will be your strength and it will keep you going on the rough narrow road to eternity.

Action Nugget: Be a carrier of God’s presence and rejoice always!

Text: Romans 4:5-6

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

There are three things that the passers on the broad way cannot have irrespective of their status. They are spiritual blessings that money cannot buy. Those on the broad easy way can have many things that true Christians have; for example, marriage, children, cars, houses, lands, fat bank accounts etc. But these three things can ONLY be found in Christ, not anywhere else. No other short cut.

These supernatural blessings keep the believer going in this corrupt world. The first one is righteousness. This is not self-righteousness or personal good works which is like a filthy rag before God. Humanly speaking, righteousness is moral uprightness. But spiritually speaking, it is deeper than that.

Abraham believed God and it was credited to him as righteousness. His righteousness came by faith, not by works. It is a gift of God.

Romans 4:5-6,says, “ But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works.”

The righteousness of a believer in Christ is received when we put our faith in Him. The evidence of this righteousness is the fruit of the Spirit, which are the good works that proceed from the righteousness of Christ.

The Word of God says, For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them”. Ephesians 2:10

This righteousness is a blessing that no follower of the broad way can have except they repent and follow the narrow way. Will you?

Prayer Nugget: Father, by your grace, help me to walk in the righteousness of Jesus Christ.

Text: John 14:27; 16:33

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

On the rough highway to Heaven every Christian is in the school of patience plus endurance. Sometimes the sun shines brightly, at other times the weather may be cloudy. During those dark cloudy moments, loneliness and at times weeping may result. But the word of God assures us that weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning- Psalm 30:5

Are you passing through a dark cloudy time? Fear not! The Sun will shine again! This too will surely pass away. The peace of God that surpasses all human understanding does not signify absence of storms. But it does mean absolute faith in God in the midst of storms which brings about a supernatural type of calmness that cannot be humanly comprehended.

The Lord said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 16:33; 14:27

Apostle Paul said, “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” 1 Corinthians 15:58

May you enjoy the peace of the Prince of Peace from today in Jesus name!

Prayer Nugget: Father, thank you for your peace in my life that passes human understanding.

Text: 2 Corinthians 11:23-28

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Paul the Apostle narrated some of the difficulties he experienced on the narrow highway to Heaven. He worked much harder than the other Apostles; he was in prison more frequently, flogged more severely, and exposed to death again and again.

Five times he received from the Jews thirty nine lashes. Three times he was beaten with rods, once he was pelted with stones, three times he was shipwrecked; yet he was constantly on the move. He experienced danger from rivers, bandits, his fellow Jews, Gentiles; he was in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers.

Paul labored and toiled and often went without sleep; sometimes he was cold and naked; and at other times, in hunger and thirst and often went without food. Besides everything else, he faced daily the pressure of his concern for all the churches- 2 Corinthians 11:23-28.

Despite his challenges on the narrow highway, what exactly kept the Apostle going? Very simple! The grace of God was sufficient; the strength of God was made perfect in his weakness-2 Corinthians 12:9.

He enjoyed the fellowship of the Comforter, who comforted him in all his troubles. He said, “For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ.” 2 Corinthians 1:5

Prayer Nugget: Father, I trust in your grace and the comfort of the Holy Spirit as I journey on in the narrow way in Jesus name.

Text: Matthew 7:14

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

The road that leads to eternal bliss is hard to follow. Only a few people find it- Matthew 7:14B.  What makes the way hard? The highway to everlasting life is fraught with many challenges. Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivers him from them all- Psalm 34:19.

The moment you give your life to Christ, you become a prime target of the dark forces of the devil’s kingdom. But victory is assured.

The word of God says, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you” Isaiah 43:2. The Lord has promised saying, “I will never leave you, nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?” Hebrews 13:5b-6

Sometimes you are persecuted for your righteous stand, whether directly or indirectly. Persecution means hostility or ill-treatment received as a result of your righteous convictions and commitments.  When you refuse to follow the corrupt ways of this world, some people will not like you; some may even hate you. It is a normal Christian experience.

It is impossible to live a righteous life in this world and not be persecuted. In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted- 2Timothy 3:12.

If you are a Christian and you aren’t experiencing any form of persecution, check your life, it means you are a friend of the world; you are already on the broad easy way that leads to destruction because friendship with the world is enmity with God- James 4:4.

Concerning this the Lord Jesus said,

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you”. Matthew 5:10-12

Prayer Nugget: Father, despite the challenges, please, grant me the grace to always rejoice and be glad on the hard road to eternal bliss in Jesus name.

Text: Galatians 5:19-25

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

How do you ascertain whether you are on the narrow or broad highway? It’s very simple. The Lord says, “Every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. By their fruit you will recognize them.” Matthew 7:16-18.

The word of God says categorically that the following of souls are already on the broad highway which leads to destruction:

“But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars—their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” Revelation 21: 8

When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. In their own case the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in their lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Those who are on the narrow way live by the Spirit, and follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of their lives.

Jesus Christ is the Narrow Way to eternity with God. Enter through Him today!

Action Nugget: Nail the passions and desires of your sinful nature to the Cross of Jesus Christ and crucified them there.

Text: Matthew 7:13-14

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Life is a journey which ends in different eternal destinations. We are all travellers on this journey. There are only two destinations- eternal life and eternal death. These two destinations are also called everlasting life and the other place is a place of shame and everlasting contempt- Daniel 12:2.

Heaven is a place of joy and everlasting peace, but only few end up there; while Hell is a place of doom and eternal torment and most inhabitants of the Earth end up there.

Our Lord Jesus Christ was kind enough to give us a foreknowledge of these two eternal destinations and to also show us the highways to them. In fact, he even went ahead to specify the road that leads to eternal life and commanded all his children to follow it.

Jesus Christ said, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14.

The highway that leads to Heaven is narrow because it only permits the things approved by the word of God. Only the will of the Father, as spelt out in the word of God is allowed in the life of those following this narrow way. It doesn’t give room for self-will and other acts of disobedience. Therefore, only very few who have totally submitted to the will of God find the road enjoyable.

On the other hand, the broad way allows anything at all. People who walk this road do whatever catches their fancy. They don’t care about God’s will. Their own will is superior to God’s will. They follow their desires, lust, feelings, and sensual craving of their flesh, worldly trends, the longing of their eyes, and boastful confidence in their earthly resources.

The decision is yours! But as for me and my family, we will follow the narrow way that leads to eternal life, peace and joy. What about you?

Reflective Nugget: If by your way of life you are already on the broad way, why not repent today, surrender to Jesus and join the narrow way? Tomorrow might be too late.

Text: Luke 18:1-8

Author: Pastor Adedeji Fadehan

Exhortation:

Yesterday, we learnt that despite the massive defeats the Israelites had in their battle with the Benjamites, they refused to give up on God. They kept going back to God until their victory was certain. Judges 20:1-48

In order to corroborate this fact, our Lord Jesus Christ told the story of a certain town where a judge lived who neither feared God nor respected people. And there was a widow who lived in that same town who kept coming to him and pleading for her rights, saying, ‘Help me against my enemy!’

For a long time the judge refused to act, but at last he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or respect people, yet because of all the trouble this widow is giving me, I will see to it that she gets her rights. If I don’t, she will keep on coming and finally wear me out!’”  Luke 18:1-8

The widow got the justice she sought because she refused to give up.

Great faith is demonstrated when you persist until you get what you are asking.

The word of God says, “You who call on the Lord, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth.” Isaiah 62:6-7

Action Nugget: Ask until your joy is full.
